In a Microsoft Word environment

Creating stable, well-structured documents and keeping them stable throughout their life-cycle is a critical time and money saver in organizations where documents make up a large part of their work product. The more people who need to access and work in a file, the greater the chance of document corruption. Additionally, much of what people are taught or discover on their own about how to use Microsoft Word is effective for simple letters and memos but can cause problems in large, complex documents such as New Drug Applications (NDAs), legal briefs, or technical manuals.

Unstable documents crash computers, become un-editable, cause numbering sequences to go awry, and create many other problems. These become even bigger problems when the output is an electronic document such as a PDF rather than a printed document.

We can analyze your document population specifically with an eye toward stabilization. Beginning with the existing templates and macros, we look at what factors may be aiding or causing difficulties in terms of maintaining stable documents. We examine document structure, direct formatting levels, and style sets to ensure that files are structurally sound.

After reporting on the status of your existing document population, we can go on to provide you with recommendations for increasing the stability of new documents, repairing existing documents and educating users in how to work with the new methods to create sound, stable documents.
